Synchronous session via Skype : rehearsal
Rehearsal time: Barbara tried Skype via my stds' cell phones. Adjustments had to be made to ensure a better and safer performance on the meeting day.
Final Session
After sorting out some glitches some of the Argentinians students started getting calls on their cell phones. They had one-to-one conversations on different topics, and their enthusiasm and eagerness to contact their partners, with whom they had already exchanged asynchronous comments on varied aspects of both their cultures and lifestyles, was contagious.
Here's a couple of photos I took as some were glued to their phones, while others were waiting for their turns to get their own contact.
Once back in our classroom, they all commented about the importance of using the language for communication purposes. I guess they are less likely to forget today´s learning experience than a lesson from a book.
As a follow-up activity and to keep a record, my students will write an account and a personal evaluation of their participation, their gainings and their feelings, which I will upload as I get them.
Thank you very, very much, Barbara Sawhill and all your clever, inquisitive students, for sharing this unforgettable experience!
